A poem about Georgia in July

July in Georgia (A Poem)

April 07, 20261 min read

Not today, Georgia

Not today, heat
We’ll not submit to you
We won’t admit defeat

Not today, skeetos
You persistent jerks
I’m donning socks and citronella
I’m a sweaty Cinderella
But I’m loving every minute

Not today, sweat
You think you can blind me?
While my forehead sends it directly into mine eyes
I find I can still have fun
without being able to see a thing
this summer

Today, I’m not to be perturbed
Kayaking, hiking, and outings will not be deferred

But first let me go put on
what’s is now
my third t-shirt today
